Have you ever wondered what some of my old pencil drawings would look like in colour?
I’ve been playing with my drawings on the computer with my paint program (Paint.NET).
Thought it would be interesting and a bit of fun to add colour to some of my drawings. So I did this for my own Facebook cover picture. Thought I would let you see it.
I’m not great at using paint programs but I had some fun doing this.

I coloured Matt Smith and the TARDIS from my Doctor Who drawing, My Sarah Michelle Gellar portrait and The vampiress from my Nocturnal drawing.

New drawing finished

Keeping secrets
 

Lots of dark and black in this, I went through so much pencil lead doing it.
I used a photo reference from SaligiaStock on deviantart – http://saligiastock.deviantart.com/
I liked the contrast between the light and dark and thought it would make an interesting drawing.
Size is A4 (210mm x 297mm) 220gsm smooth cartridge paper, HB and 2B 5mm mechanical pencil, 
various grades of pencil ranging from 4h to 5B, tissues, cotton buds, blending stumps and erasers.

I took a break from drawing over the holidays but I’m back to it today.

Got a few drawings that I need to get finished, so hopefully will have some new completed art to show you soon.

I’ve got quite a few ideas going around in my head for other things to draw this year too, hope you’re going to like what I come up with in 2012.

Work in progress update.

Here’s a bit more progress on this drawing.
It’s starting to get there now but still got work to do yet, got to add some more detail, shading and blending yet.

Change of plan concerning my drawing of Geddy Lee.

I took a break from the dog commission last night to do a bit of work on my drawing of Geddy Lee, but I’m not too satisfied with how it’s going at the moment, so I am going to put it one side for a while, until after the new year. Because I will eventually be drawing the other two members of the band, I think I will wait and show you when all three are finished. So, I am going to work on getting this drawing finished instead.

Work in progress of a commissioned dog portrait - Alice.

The person I’m doing this for has very kindly been given permission to show you the progress of this drawing. Still much to do, shading blending and fine details will be done next, then it should really start to come together.

I’m enjoying drawing it and it’s nice to be drawing an animal for a change.

It’s quite large, drawn on size A3 smooth Bristol board.

So far I’ve used HB and 2B mechanical pencils.

I’m still trying to do bits on my other drawings in between doing it but mainly concentrating on this at the moment.

It’s drawn on A4 220gsm smooth cartridge paper, so far using HB, 2B mechanical pencils(0.5mm) and 5B pencil.

I’ve not been too well recently and drawing progress has been slow, sorry for not keeping my tumblr updated,  but I’m much better now and am back in the swing of things.
Have not gotten round to finishing the Geddy Lee drawing that I showed you in my last post but plan to get it finished during this week.

Update.

Here’s an updated work in progress picture of the Geddy Lee drawing I’m working on.
Not finished yet but shouldn’t be too long until it’s done, still got some detailing to do and a few things to finish on it yet.
This is the first drawing in a three piece project I’m doing.
This is Geddy Lee, the lead singer, bass and keyboard player of the prog rock band Rush.
There will eventually be two other drawings to go along with this. They will feature the other two band members, the drummer Neil Peart and guitarist Alex Lifeson. 
The idea for the background comes from Rush’s recent Time Machine tour and will be the theme throughout all three drawings.
I’m quite busy with drawings at the moment one of which will be a drawing of a pet dog I’m doing for somebody, I will keep you updated with the progress of things.

The Jessica Alba drawing is still on hold for the moment but I will get back to it when I can.

Thought I would show you the pumpkin that I’ve done for this year. Couldn’t decide what to do this year but then remembered the movie Gremlins and thought it would make a good pumpkin.
Spent ages sculpting into this using all sorts of stuff but it was fun to do.

Work in progress:
Geddy Lee - Rush trio part 1
Part of a three piece project I’m working on, there will be two more drawings to go with it. This is a WIP of the first of one. It is Geddy Lee from the prog rock band Rush, he’s the lead singer, bass player and plays the keyboards for the band.
Still needs plenty of work yet, you can now see where one of the guitars I drew the other day fits into it.

Still got something else to add to it in that blank space.
The other two drawings to go with this will be Alex Lifeson ( lead guitar) and Neil Peart ( Drums).
I have not given up on the Jessica Alba drawing, just rested it for a little while and will be getting back to it soon. Quite busy with drawings at the moment.

I thought I would let you see a bit of something else I’m working on, part of a three piece project I’m doing.
These are actually two different drawings on two different sheets of A4 paper, but I joined them together to show you on here.

Still need a bit of tidying up and both guitars will also eventually have a portrait and something else drawn next to them.
There will be a third drawing which will have a drum kit in it.
